Sportscaster Series #08 Variation - Does Print Run "C" Exist?

In Sportscaster Series #08 I only have one card from the "B" print run.  As you can guess from the title I don't have any cards from print run "C".

For the first print run, I only have 14 of the 24 cards.  All of these were printed in Italy.  Is there a blank print run from Japan?

I do have all 24 cards from print run "A", so I can at least compare them to the 14 cards in the first print run.  Here are the two back variations I've seen.

8-05 T&F The 800m - 'A' has the updated world record
8-23 Rafer Johnson - 'A' has added awards.  I will check on this one.  It doesn't make sense to have added awards since he was no longer competing.  Maybe the variation is on the card before or after this one?

I think That I've Finally Got the e-mail Address into My Profile - Contact Me There or Comment on the Blog as You are Already Doing

For those trying to contact me to discuss Sportscaster cards, I finally added my e-mail into my profile.  On the right side of the blog there is a link to my profile.  Once there click on About and my e-mail address should appear.

I look forward to hearing about your Sportscaster items and if you are going to the National.  I'm undecided on the National so far.

Sportscaster Series #07 Variations that I Have Found So Far. Does Anyone Have Print Run "A"?

Here is what I found for the 24 cards in Series #7 so far.   It looks like the first print run has no letter.  Those can be found printed either in Japan or Italy.  In addition, I am finding print run "A", "B" and  "C".  So I'm working on getting all five versions for Series #7.

I have every card from the blank print run (Japan) except 07-16 which is Mickey Mantle/Roger Maris,   I have all cards from deck "B" and from "C".  I have no cards from the "B" print run.  I only have four cards from the blank print run from Italy.

Here are the back variations I've seen.  There are probably a few more since I don't have any cards from the "A" print run.

7-02 Willie Shoemaker - 'B' and 'C' have added text
7-04 Don Schollander - 'B' and 'C' have different awards
7-05 Eddy Merckx - 'B' and 'C' have different text
7-08 Ice Hockey - USSR - 'B' and 'C' have different text
7-10 Valeri Borzov - 'B' and 'C' have year in records - 1979
7-14 T&F The Morat to Fribourg Racer - 'B' and 'C' have added text
7-17 Brad Park - 'B' and 'C' have different awards

Finally, A Set that Focuses on the Stars of Track and Field

I like that the Sportscaster set has lots of track and field cards.  More than 300 cards exist for track and field athletes.  That is more than 10% of the set.

Lots of track stars and olympic medalists can be had for under a quarter since most people are interested in the four main sports (FB, BB, BSK, Hockey) and boxing.  When I buy cheap lots they don't have the big stars, but the track cards are rarely picked through other than Prefontaine cards and high numbers.

I plan to post specific cards using the biographies listed on the back.  I will try to include a few things more recent for each athlete if there is anything worth noting.

I've found cards of people I've met, ran against, coached against and even one of a guy who was my coach.  I'm going to keep checking out the pictures to figure out who else is in some of them.  Stay tuned.

Sportscaster Series #06 Variations that I Have Found So Far. Now We've Got Four Variations of Some Cards

Here is what I found for the 24 cards in Series #6 so far.   It looks like the first print run has no letter.  Those can be found printed either in Japan or Italy.  In addition, I am finding print run "A", "B" and  "C".  So I'm working on getting all five versions for Series #6.

I have every card from the blank print run (Japan), "A" and from "C".  I am only missing one card from the "B" print run - Olympic Hierarchy (06-19).  I only have six cards from the blank print run from Italy.

Here are the back variations I've seen.  Without really checking I found one variation on the front of the cards.

Sportscaster Series #05 Variations that I Have Found So Far. Now I'm Seeing Three Variations for Some Cards

Here is what I found for the 24 cards in Series #5 so far.   It looks like the first print run has no letter.  Those can be found printed either in Japan or Italy.  In addition, I am finding print run "A", "B" and  "C".  So I'm working on getting all five versions for Series #5.

I have every card from print runs 'B' and "C".  I am only missing one card from the first (blank) print run printed in Japan - Babe Ruth (05-11).  I only have one card from the blank print run and printed in Italy.

Here are the back variations I've seen.  I have yet to check for variations on the front of the cards.  It looks like this deck is the first to have three variations on the back for any card.

5-02 Mike Hailwood - 'B' and 'C' have text about a 1978 comeback added
5-07 Tourist Trophy 'B' and 'C' have 1978 records added

5-10 Basketball Referee's Signals 'B' and 'C' have an added sub-title
5-11 Babe Ruth - I don't see differences but I am missing the blank prints and 'A'
5-12 Trials (Motorcycle) - 'B' has 1977-78 stats; 'C' has 1979 stats --- 3 variations
5-15 World Cup Scorers  'B' and 'C' have 1978 scorers

5-24 World Championship for Sidecars  'B' has 1977-78 stats; 'C' has 1977-79 stats --- 3 variations

I haven't loaded many pictures of many Sportscaster cards yet.  Enjoy this photo from my Kellogg's blog.  Tomorrow look for pictures of backs with four variations.
